  • list some relevant findings from second language acquisition research;

  • explain the notions of 'implicit' and 'explicit' learning;

  • identify some aspects of meaning and describe tools for conveying meaning to learners;

  • explain the importance of word form and collocation in vocabulary teaching;

  • describe some procedures for presenting vocabulary, in and out of context;

  • describe some techniques for practising and reviewing vocabulary;

  • plan vocabulary activities for a variety of purposes.
