Identifying problem areas

The following culture-specific aspects of the text might be considered problematic: paellera, or more appropriately paella, is the term used to refer to the receptacle in which the traditional Spanish dish is cooked. It is a round, shallow pan with two handles on the sides. This receptacle is very common in Spain, but it may be difficult to find in the UK. So, how best to translate it into English? It is very interesting to observe that the French and Italian recipes of this same dish keep the Spanish term (loan) and add an explanation in brackets (addition/description), thus:

poêle à Paella (ou d'un grand plat à rotir que vous disposerez sur deux plaques chauffantes)

la paella (il classico padellone spagnolo rotondo e nero)

The English text, in contrast, uses a functional substitute ('large casserole').
